"We'll just take a quick look."

Every family is probably familiar with this phrase. And most of the time, we parents know in advance that “just a little while” can quickly turn into an hour.
That’s exactly how it was for Marie and Lasse at STAR.Landia in the Laurentius Baby & Children’s Hotel in Fiss.

Marie and Lasse are 9 and 6 years old and are actually past the age where a simple play area would keep them entertained for long. That made it all the more wonderful to see how curiously the two of them explored STAR.Landia.

One room, then another—and suddenly the children were gone

They didn’t just want to try one thing. Instead, they climbed, discovered, played, and kept exploring one area after another.

STAR.Landia is part of the large indoor play world at the Laurentius Baby & Children’s Hotel in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis family region. The various play areas are designed in completely different ways and even incorporate themes from the Fiss area.

There’s the “Fisser Gonde,” the Urgtal with its wiggly frog, a tunnel near the marmots, a treehouse, and even a tractor that needs a missing wheel repaired.

And at some point, we realized: We aren't needed at all right now

That was perhaps the most wonderful moment for us as parents.

Marie and Lasse were so absorbed in their own little adventure that we weren’t constantly being asked, “What are we doing now?”, “Are you coming with us?”, or “I’m bored.”

We were finally able to just sit back and watch. And then relax a little ourselves.

Because that’s exactly what we want from a family vacation: Of course we want to spend time with our kids. But we don’t want to be entertainers, tour guides, and activity leaders all at once.

At STAR.Landia, the kids could play on their own and let their imaginations run wild—and we had the chance to enjoy the moment, too.

What we also liked: The focus is on movement, creativity, and playing together—without any screens or electronic devices.

The children decide for themselves what they want to try and come up with their own stories.

And it’s precisely these little moments that make a family vacation special for us.

Plenty of exercise—without even trying

What we as parents also liked: At STAR.Landia, the kids are constantly on the move without it feeling like “exercise” to them. While climbing, balancing, sliding, and exploring, they naturally develop coordination, dexterity, and a love of movement.

For Marie and Lasse, it was one thing above all else: fun. For us, it was wonderful to see that they could really let off some steam—and were maybe even a little bit tired afterward. That’s exactly what a perfect vacation day looks like to us.

We especially loved that the kids were constantly discovering something new and were naturally on the move the whole time.

For us, STAR.Landia was one thing above all else: a wonderful getaway for the whole family. Marie and Lasse were able to move around, explore, and let their imaginations run wild, and we parents were able to just relax for a bit in between.

And that’s exactly what we’re taking away from our visit: A successful family vacation doesn’t mean everyone has to do the same thing all the time. If the kids are happily playing and the parents are able to unwind at the same time, then everything’s been done right.

So for us, “We’ll just take a quick look” at STAR.Landia can happily last a little longer next time.
