The trendsetter in hotels for children
Early days: 1988
Under the auspices of the Austrian National Tourist Office, we set ourselves the goal of offering the perfect family holiday, with the highest quality standards and expert care. At ITB 1988 we introduced what had until then been a purely Austrian hotel group to the public. After ten years the hotel cooperative formed a limited liability company (GmbH) in order to expand and operate internationally. Ever since it has been known by the Kinderhotels Europa GmbH brand and 50 hotels in four countries now trade under this name.
Brains behind the success: Gerhard Stroitz
Gerhard Stroitz is regarded as the person who started Kinderhotels. Sons Wolfgang and Christian gave the hotelier from Lake Faaker See and present Group General Manager the idea, because they both thought simple “farm holidays” were too boring; they wanted to make camp fires and build dens in the woods. From 1986 Stroitz gradually transformed his bed and breakfast business into a comprehensive hotel for children offering a wide range of activities. Gerhard Stroitz has been the hotel group’s General Manager since Kinderhotels Europa was set up.
Brains behind the success: Siggi Neuschitzer
Siggi Neuschitzer has been running Europe’s first babies’ and children’s hotel in Trebesing, Carinthia, for 25 years. The idea of a holiday which centred on the needs of babies saved his parent’s spa hotel from the verge of bankruptcy. In 1985 Neuschitzer and Gerhard Stroitz founded the “Kinderland Kärnten” group and in 1988 Neuschitzer became Kinderhotels’ Head of Marketing & Partner Relations. Siggi Neuschitzer now jointly owns the Kinderhotels Europa brand and is responsible for the hotel group’s PR and industry cooperations.
