Everyone knows that Kinderhotels Europe has long been THE benchmark for family winter holidays with childcare. There's so much more to a winter holiday with Kinderhotels, though, than "just" perfect skiing, ice skating, après-ski and winter wellness.
During the 2009/10 winter season, guests of Kinderhotels Europe will buckle on their skis, swelter in the sauna and smooth away the wrinkles that weren't there before, but now, to create a perfect holiday, in addition to fun on the pistes, cross-country trails and ice, guests can experience new holiday "regimes", such as bathing in red wine, letting off steam à la Maria Montessori, instinctive archery, ice golf and good times for extended families.

The Hauser Kaibling family hotel in Haus im Ennstal (Styria) has introduced Austria's first "pedalo ski lift" right next to the hotel. This means that instead of the lift pulling the kids up the mountain, they have to use their own muscle power as in the olden days! Zipping down the slopes afterwards is huge fun, because muscles are already warmed up. And away from the slopes the hotel's mini farm is just waiting to be visited. The animals are already grunting and bleating in anticipation of the daily petting sessions.
Rieser's guests do it for themselves!
A dream holiday awaits Montessori fans at Rieser's Kinderhotel in Buchau, beside Achensee, Tyrol's biggest lake, because children are "educated" according to their own needs, talents and gifts in the hotel's own Montessori nursery, in keeping with Montessori's ethos of "Help me to do it myself!" Other highlights include the Beautyfit Center, the snow playing-field with magic carpet and BOBO children's ski school right outside the hotel, and the special rooms for allergy sufferers.

As of this winter, so parents can relax with their offspring children will also be able to luxuriate in the Vitaloasis at Dilly's Kinderhotel in Windischgarsten (Upper Austria). Big kids (from the age of 16) will even enjoy unaccompanied access to the Burgtherme spa, with sauna, salt tunnels and Welluna sound and colour therapy.

One of the nicest "side benefits" of holidaying at 4-Smiley Kinderhotel Kreuzwirt am Weissensee in Carinthia is its position beside 6.5 km2 Lake Weissensee. Skating enthusiasts will be impressed by Europe's biggest consistently frozen area of ice, as will those who want to learn ice skating at the natural ice skating school. Other "winter goodies" include the heated outdoor pool nestling in the midst of a fantastic winter wonderland, the children's ski lift right outside the hotel, free transfers to Carinthia's biggest ski area, the Nassfeld ski arena, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice golfing and "endless cross-country skiing".

Qualified, friendly instructors teach children aged 2 and up in small groups of no more than five. Nappy? No problem! Children are transported free on - abracadabra - safe, child-friendly magic carpets. Lessons only last two hours, which is manageable for even the littlest snowman or woman! And of course a taster session is included to see how things go!

Bigger kids and their parents too are transported direct to the slopes - if they want. Then there's sheer luxurious wellness in 4- and 5-Smiley hotel spas. Some even offer an outdoor pool nestling in the winter wonderland.
